To reach 2.5G Ethernet speeds, you need a cable modem or cable modem router with specific 2.5 Gigabit ports and Cat 6 cables. 

Should I use 5G, 2.5G, or 1G?

If you need to handle large-scale data transmission or specific applications that require higher speeds, you can consider 2.5G network ports or 5G network ports.
